Since the 1st of July 2004, Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers in Warsaw is the only organization authorized by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to keep the Herd Books for dairy cattle in Poland. Currently it keeps the Herd Books for the following dairy cattle breeds: Holstein and Red Holstein, Simmental, Jersey, Red Polish, Montbeliarde, Polish Black and White, Polish Red and White, Brown Swiss and Swedish Red.
The Head Office of the Breeding Department is located in Warsaw. There are also 11 regional offices across Poland responsible for breeding tasks in their area.

In this connection, Polish Federation carries out with tasks in areas listed below::

Registration of heifer calves, cows and bulls in Herd Book,

Issuance of the certificates confirming the registration of dairy cattle in Herd Book,

Issuance of the official pedigree certificates for animals, semen, ova and embryos,

Co-operation with AI stations in Poland in order of realization the bulls selection programs,

Participation in the realization of the conservation breeding program of the genetic resources for Red Polish, Polish Red and White, Polish Black and White breeds.

Organization of shows and exhibitions.

We are proud to announce that the Polish Federation released for their breeders n March 2015 Cattle Genetics Laboratory located in Parzniew near Warsaw. In this laboratory biological material obtained from the female is genotyping with Illumina EuroG10k BeadChips. After estimation of breeding values based on genetic markers SNP by the entity responsible for it, farmers receive a results of genomic index gPF and gPI for each traits.
