All European Championship in Cremona, Italy

28-31 October 2010, for the second time Italian Cremona organized All European Holstein and Red Holstein Championship. The first European show took place in Paris in 1989, Cremona hosted the Championship in 1991. The competition  between the best European cows was then held annually and, later, every second year in different locations across Europe.

This year 138 cows from  13 European countries:  Austria, Belgium, Croatia,  Czech Republic, France, Spain, , Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary and Italy took part in this show.

It was for our country the  debut on the international arena. For the first time Polish Holstein cows were  presented on European ring.

Six Polish cows from breeding centres  in Dębołęka, Garzyn and Osięciny fought for the title of European champion. The British judge John Gribbon judged the cows in their individual classes, according to their age and number of calving. Finally, each country exhibited four cows in its National Group. Polish team was classified 10th in this competition.

For the first time within the European Championship, the European Young Breeders’ Showmanship was organized. Thirty young breeders from  14 European countries  competed in the clipping and showing of heifers in the ring.

Two young sisters from Poland: Emilia and Aneta Zawadzka represented Polish Federation in this competition successfully.
